We’re Not Made To Walk Alone – Encouragement for Today – May 20, 2025

Bible Passage:
“Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” — Titus 2:3-5 (ESV)

Growing up, church was a constant in my life. My mom made it a priority to take us every time the doors were open. Beyond Sunday mornings, she showed her faith through daily life, creating moments for us to connect with God together. Her faithfulness and steady example left a lasting impact on me.
Even now, as she cares for elderly parents, babysits grandchildren, and manages her home, her commitment to spiritual discipline remains strong. As a young woman, I’m deeply grateful to witness this steady walk of faith. Alongside other godly women who mentor me, she shows me what it looks like to live authentically in obedience to God  not perfectly, but faithfully.

Our lives are beautifully woven together with those who came before us, those who follow us, and those we walk alongside. Life is never a solo journey. The “inner circle” we choose shapes us, supports us, and challenges us to grow.

Paul understood this well. In his letter to Titus, he addressed the Christians in Crete a culture that often lived contrary to Christ’s teachings. In that challenging environment, Paul urged older women to live reverently and mentor younger women in love and godly character (Titus 2:3-5).

In today’s society that values independence, it’s easy to try to navigate life alone. But the truth remains: we need each other.

  • Mothers don’t have to face motherhood in isolation.

  • Wives don’t have to figure out how to love and respect their husbands alone.

  • Young women don’t have to discover God’s plan by themselves.

  • Widows don’t have to rebuild alone.

  • Older women don’t have to weather life’s transitions in solitude.

With God, we are never alone. He has given us community — a biblical support system of mentors, friends, and sisters in faith. We are called to lean on one another, to share our struggles, and to grow together in godly womanhood.

May we live fully loved and deeply connected.

A Prayer for Community and Mentorship

Father God,
Thank You for the women who have paved the way before me. Help me to learn from their wisdom and to also be a guiding light for others in this season of my life. Teach me to live faithfully, to love generously, and to build strong, Christ-centered relationships. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
