UCC Disaster Ministries Team releases prayer for Texas flooding victims

The Disaster Ministries Team of the United Church of Christ has released a prayer for the victims that have been affected by the significant flooding in Kerr County, Texas, and beyond. At last count, 104 people have been confirmed dead, with active searches continuing to find more victims and possible survivors.

Andrew Long-Higgins, team leader for Global HOPE (Humanitarian, Opportunities, Partnerships, and Empowerment) said he and his colleagues have been in contact with the South Central Conference of the UCC to monitor the situation and determine how to best support recovery efforts.

“Flooding has become one of the most common natural disasters affecting communities across the United States. Disaster Ministries supports the long-term recovery of communities through a variety of mechanisms in the months and years after the initial disaster event,” Long-Higgins said. “These efforts are made possible by the generosity of the wider church. Gifts made to Disaster Ministries designated for “severe storms” will be used in full (100%) to assist the victims of this flood and other like flooding disasters.”
